What’s it about?

Hospice nurse Amaya Abbott is hiding a huge secret: she’s a siphon—not a vampire—who stays alive by ushering her patients to death. But when something goes wrong and she somehow ends up healing a patient and granting them immortality (without turning them into a siphon as well), Amaya must flee a shadowy organization eager to control her power. When they threaten her best friend, Yuuki, she decides to take him with her so she can protect him. Little does she know, he’s got secrets of his own.

Who is it for?

For adult fans of contemporary supernatural stories along the lines of “A Discovery of Witches”, NLTO brings a fresh twist to vampires and other well-known creatures. Like in “The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches", the main character is an older protagonist who loves and appreciates the magical side of herself but has felt forced to hide her gifts from everyone. So if that’s your jam, you’ll enjoy seeing how Amaya navigates both the human world and the shadows when her power is discovered. It’s also for people looking for subtle ace representation, healthy friendship/relationship dynamics, and those who are ready to read about a female protagonist who must embrace all of her power (rather than giving it all up in the end) in order to get what she wants.
