THE MANIFOLD CHRONICLES #1

What’s it about?

Sen and Kami want nothing more than to blend in with the rest of society, quietly raising their children and caring for his dying father on their small farmstead outside of town. But when the Academies discover their undocumented magical powers, historian and family man Sen must convince them he and pregnant wife Kami are no threat. An Academy loyalist, but desperate to guard Kami’s secret status, Sen agrees to take on a dangerous Assignment in exchange for his family’s safety and freedom. His absence causes strain back home as Kami experiences pregnancy complications and their older child begins displaying terrifying power, but he’s focused on doing whatever it takes to keep the Academies from apprehending Kami.

Sen didn’t sign up for family secrets, other worlds, or hidden government organizations. And yet, he finds himself at the epicenter of a potentially world-shattering and history-altering plot. He must decide if he’s going to see the Assignment through and play an active part, or give up their utopian life in favor of disappearing with his family for good, dooming them to a life on the run.

Who is it for?

The Manifold Chronicles #1 is for fans of V.E. Schwab’s “Shades of Magic” series and those who love exploring the darker sides of a future, post-apocalyptic utopia like what’s found in “The Giver.” It’s a story where human society and nature itself are peacefully recovered, but threats still loom just below the surface of the carefully crafted structures. This is for those of us who fantasize about a beautiful future for humanity and our world at large, while also recognizing that human beings are still human beings. If you like a blend of science fiction and fantasy, science-based magic systems, and exploring the human condition through complicated family dynamics and rigid social structures, this might be for you!
