Querying Update (Project SU)
Back in the trenches! I’m querying SU even though it doesn’t quite fit neatly into any category because I can’t not query it.
Why I Write About Family Dynamics
As a storyteller, I find myself drawn to the interplay of characters bound by blood. Their nuanced, complicated relationships are universally relatable, and a never-ending source of content.
Just a Quick Life Update
COVID hit our house hard earlier this month, and after nearly 3 weeks of acute symptoms, I’m finally coming out of it. As it’s literally the last day of September, it feels like I lost a month, but such is life.
Writing Update: Querying #10
It’s been a while, so let’s check in and get up to speed on where we’re at.
Why I Write Cozy Fantasy
Cozy fantasy transports us to worlds where mystical creatures may roam and everyday troubles yield to the comforts of life, whether they be warm drinks or good friends.
Why I Write About Identity & Belonging
Themes of identity and belonging have been major ones in my own life, so I’m drawn to writing about these aspects of existence. I’ve always been fascinated by human identity and the search we all seem to have for a place to call home.
Writing Tip: Find Inspiration in Every Day Life
For writers, the ability to draw inspiration from the seemingly mundane aspects of everyday life is an invaluable one. It’s a constant source for creative content!
Writing Update: Check-in and R&R Reflections
R&R update, querying, and reflections on the revision process for WSD.
Many Lives In These 40 Years
It’s my 40th birthday! Grab a drink, your favorite snack, and a cozy blanket while I get all introspective about life, writing, past mistakes, and the many lives I’ve lived.
Why I Write Multicultural Stories
Rooted in my own identity as part of the diaspora (mixed 2nd gen Japanese American), these kinds of stories almost always explore the delicate topics of identity and belonging, which I love.
Writing Update: Querying #7
It’s been a month since the last official update, and there have been some changes!
Writing Update: April 2024 Works In Progress
So many projects, so little time! What does my work look like right now, and what am I doing to manage it all?
Writing Update: Querying #6
4 requests, 17 rejections, and 14 outstanding… I don’t plan to send any more queries at this point, so here’s to hoping!
Writing Update: New WIP (+ more query responses)
It doesn’t look quite like last year, where I literally wrote one novel manuscript after another, drafting constantly even while I was editing and revising the ones I’d already finished. It’s more of a mixed bag right now, and I feel good about that.
Writing Update: Querying #5
3 requests and 13 rejections… I’m happy with those numbers! I’d like to see more requests, obviously, but I’m also not going to complain.
